Business Internet Marketing: Small Businesses can Compete

In contrast to conventional advertising, the little guy can be successful at business internet marketing. Small business owners do not need huge budgets to be able to compete online…

As far as conventional marketing channels go, most of your results are linked to how much you have available to spend. Advertising exposure costs money, regardless of the form it takes. Branding your business costs even more money – which will probably not show any measurable results in the near future…

The big budget wins. The company with the best financial resources is bound to come up ahead.

However…

With business internet marketing, small business owners do not need to have an astronomical budget to be noted. True, the big companies will probably still throw dollars around, buying ad space everywhere, and building flashy websites…

NOTE:

The flashy websites are not always Google-friendly. Their technical composition will, in many instances, count against their evaluation and ranking from Google and other search engines.

On the internet, there are numerous ways to attract traffic to a website, and brand yourself in the process – without spending any fortunes. All you really need is your own hosting and domain, and your internet connection. The rest will take some time and effort, but it need not cost you any money.

You can market yourself purely by the content of your website or company blog, you can do social marketing, forum marketing, video marketing (and no, it does not need to be studio quality for Youtube), articles, and even classified ads (although the latter can be time consuming, with no lasting effect).

Additionally, keep in mind that people search for similar items using different words. By simply adding the terms with less competition to your website’s content, you will still be able to attract visitors – regardless of the big flashy websites (even if they work) built by the big guys.

The playing field is level for business internet marketing. Small and big businesses have the same opportunities and challenges. However, as a small business owner, you probably have more dedication and commitment to the success of your venture – so you will be willing to do more to make it succeed. So yes – you can compete, even without money.
